James L. Netters Scholarship Mission
The mission of the James L. Netters Sr. Scholarship Ministry is to encourage, promote and support the post-secondary educational pursuits and goals of deserving individuals of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – Westwood.

Applicants may apply once per school year during either application period. If approved, the full annual scholarship award is issued in one payment to support both semesters.
Application requirements
Complete the online application and upload all required documents before submitting.
- Completed online scholarship application
- Official or unofficial high school, college, post-secondary school, or trade school transcript
- Acceptance letter, enrollment verification, or current school schedule
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- One letter of recommendation from a coach, mentor, teacher, employer, or ministry leader
- Personal statement
About the minimum GPA
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is expected. If your GPA is lower you may still submit your application — it will be marked for individual review by the Scholarship Committee.
